Wave of Light

This a scene from the Alexander Valley north of Healdsburg and my inspiration came from a drive by shooting one glorious August evening. In my photo the foreground vineyards were all a blur, but I know how to fix that stuff and let you in on the essence of what caught my eye. I'm crazy about those long shadows that lay across the golden hills, the layers of mountains and the symmetry of the rows of summer grapes. Time to mosey on home, put your feet up and soak up the last glimmers of light with your favorite drink and finger food. Ahhhhh..................

Sonoma Splendor

Had a delicious Sunday breakfast at the marvelous Hank's Creekside in Santa Rosa, being waited on by one of Hank's gifted kids Angela and were blessed by such a fabulous start to our day. Afterwards, we took Tomas's almost 93 year old Mother Renee on a spontaneous excursion to Matanzas Creek Winery out Bennett Valley Road and I found a fun place to plop down with my supplies. They have a lavish lavender garden that has typically been harvested in late June, but to my supreme delight there were some new plantings and different varieties that still happened to be blooming. I was able to sit beneath one of their strategically placed umbrellas and look south-west to this delectable scene. It was mid afternoon, so the shadows were soft and there weren't many dark darks, but doesn't it feel like a hot summer day as a result?

Every Shade of Lavender

Re-visiting that luscious purple stuff that smells to high heaven. This time I'm 'taking' you to the property of Matanzas Creek Winery in Sonoma County with the lovely rolling California hills in the background. What I love about this place is that it's just like a visit to France without the expense or anguish of hopping a plane! I love the symmetry of the rows as well as all the amazing shades of pink, blue and purple besides the intoxicating fragrance, wow. Hope you do too and that this little piece gives you a mini vacation to the place of your dreams.
