Wild Watercolor

Yesterday at Pacific Star Winery north of Fort Bragg was, yet again, an other-worldly experience. The breezes were lovely, the sunshine just right, the company of friends superb and the wee glass of their orange muscat perfect for our picnic. Painting was an after thought, but so glad that my friends indulged me while they gawked and gazed. Glad I carry an emergency watercolor bag in my car at all times!

Gold Flowers and Whitewater

As promised, here is another impression of my glorious day up north. I often include the 'whole nine yards' in my paintings, so in this one I went for the essence which was the carpet of poppies against the aquamarine sea. Simple shapes and simple brushstrokes can make for more impact which is something I am always striving for in my work. I will forever relish the memory of the warm sun, the amazing array of color and the  perfect ocean breeze that honestly felt like God patting my cheek!

Pretty in Purple

You guessed it. Another view from Pacific Star Winery, this time looking south. I'm just so glad that I took advantage of the sunshine and made a lot of hay in one day. (today it's raining) This place is so awe inspiring that I just spend the day reeling in amazement and pinch myself every now and then to see if I'm alive or simply dreaming. I told Sally that it is the greatest place on earth for me because I can be working while enjoying the wonder of it all. Thank you, thank you, thank you I keep telling her.
