Victorian Diptych

(Click on title to view painting via the blog page)

I just completed a 24x30 inch commission of the Albert Brown house, shown below. It was an historical painting, showing my client's grandmother on her horse in front of the house. I love our stately and grand 'ladies' that line Little Lake Street in quaint Mendocino and often paint them from many different angles. I spotted two tiny panels on my shelf today and decided to paint the house again, along with the Blair House (made famous by the TV show Murder She Wrote) in miniature this time. Hope you like the small and the big of it.

South Facing Splendor

Bopping down toward the ocean on Ukiah Street in Mendocino, these lovely Victorian 'ladies' greet the southern sunshine with sincere appreciation. For those of us on the north coast, having a house that faces south is a true blessing because we want all the sun we can get. My house is pretty much shady on the south side (rats), but the west is wide open to the sea and sky which makes up for it, almost. Who can honestly complain with daily sights such as this though???? Especially during the week of Thanksgiving, I am very grateful for every visual and literal feast set before me.
