Light Show

Went for something 'simple' for today's post, though creating high contrast and natural drama isn't all that easy. The only thing that made this somewhat simple was that I skipped the drawing phase and just went into the dark clouds with my paintbrush. Just think how happy God must feel each day when he paints the sky with the swipe of his brush???? We reap the benefits and get to exclaim ooh and aah at the end of our day. So grateful.

Liquid Luster

Few things are more riveting than a sight such as this, our endless pool of lustrous liquid. Water ebbing and flowing, waves crashing and blinding light reflecting off of each magnificent cresting wave. The Pacific Ocean here in my neck of the redwoods has to be one of God's greatest creative feats. It has to do with the high cliffs that serve as a dramatic element combined with all of that wondrous water, to say nothing of the plethora of color.............

"Gold" Country

In California, gold is plentiful. All summer and into the fall the hills are ablaze with that hue whether or not the shiny stuff is to be found in any of the creeks and rivers. A friend from Portland told me how much she misses that color because it brings a measure of warmth and excitement. Ok, so I DO love Ireland (and Oregon) but there is something as wonderful about gazing at golden hills as at the kelly green ones.

Lemonade and Baguettes

It was mid-afternoon at our French farmhouse, Mas Pichony, and we were in need of a pick me up, so we opted for lemonade and a crusty baguette in the cool of the dining room. However, the dancing olives on the tablecloth and the lilting sunflowers did as much for our energy level as the food and drink. The aesthetics of a place are paramount, and that's what drives me to keep leaving the country or I could live on bread and water in any old place.
