Monet's Pond in Miniature

I've made two visits to Monet's Garden in Giverny, France. Once was on a day for the public and the second visit on a day set aside for painters. Sadly, it rained that day so we had to put our watercolors away for fear they'd be ruined! However, on both occasions I was able to snap many photos and have painted from them over the years. Near the house there is an abundance of flowers, but here along the pond it is all about the sculptural quality of the trees, the bridges and the reflections. I hope to paint the flower garden one day soon, but for now I hope you enjoy this serene image and can imagine the Impressionist master on this very bank, contemplating the garden he so thoughtfully and carefully created.
